(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Mitchell driver is facing an impaired driving charge after a collision last week.
On November 12 2020, just after 06:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth Fire Department, and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a collision on Line 42, in the Municipality of West Perth. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the driver of a car travelling westbound on Line 42 entered the eastbound lane, striking the rear of a tractor that was travelling in that lane.
The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver of the car had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and further testing was conducted, where two samples of breath provided were more than double the legal limit.
As a result, Andrew RUSSELL, 28, of Mitchell, has been charged with:
Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
