(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 12, 2020 at approximately 11:55 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) violation on Irvine Street near East Mill Street in Elora.Police spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.The driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and they were read the demand to provide a breath sample.The driver later declined to provide the required samples of their breath.Sean Michael MILLS, 39-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Operation While Impaired-alcohol or drug and Failure or Refuse to Comply with Demand contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on December 12, 2020.The vehicle was impounded for seven days and driver’s licence suspended for 90 as per statute.If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
