Impaired Driver Arrested Near Listowel – OSBORN

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A complaint from the public has assisted in another impaired driver being removed from the road.

On October 9 2020, just before 8:00 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver, travelling northbound on Perth Road 164, north of Atwood, in the Municipality of North Perth. Witnesses observed the vehicle entering the oncoming lane, and later it almost collided with a parked car.

Police located the vehicle just south of Listowel, and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, was displaying signs of impairment through a drug. Further observations of the vehicle resulted in officers locating fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in plain view.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to a local OPP detachment for further examination. A Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) conducted a series of tests and the driver was deemed to be impaired by a drug.

As a result, Kyle Richard OSBORN, 29, of Garson, Ontario, has been charged with:

Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
