Drunk Driving Charge Following Collision – BESTWARD

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On November 7, 2020 at 4:31 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a collision, involving two motor vehicles on Artemesia Street North, in the Town of Dundalk, Southgate. A driver in a (red) pick-up truck struck a (blue) sport utility vehicle. The driver of the pick-up truck showed obvious signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Markdale for a breath test.The results of the breath test were over three times the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged James BESTWARD, 43 years-of-age, from Southgate, ON with the following offences:Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCThis driver was issued a 90 day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.The other involved driver was treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries.The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 28, 2021.Anyone with information that can assist Grey Bruce OPP with this investigation, call 1-888-310-1122.
