Drunk Driver Facing Several Charges – HATCH

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On October 16, 2020 at approximately 9:00 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109 near Sideroad 15 when they observed a black sedan travelling eastbound at a speed that appeared to be well below the speed limit.

Police conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Officers seized an open container of alcohol that was within the driver’s reach and the vehicle was found to be uninsured.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on November 10, 2020 to answer to the charges.
